Spring Cleaning

When the winds begin to blow the warm air towards our hearts and homes, it is always helpful to clean up and clean out.  After several years of healing my mind and body, I decided that there were still a few things that I needed to get rid of, so this year, I took the idea of spring cleaning to a new level.

The closets have been cleaned, the floors swept and mopped, and the bathrooms scrubbed. Along with the typical spring cleaning, I decided to cleanse my body, by going on a detoxing fast. This may a bit extreme, but I like to be thorough.

Most importantly, I worked on cleansing my thoughts. Thoughts are the precursor to all emotions and actions. Many of us tend to be addicted to our thoughts, so it’s helpful to spend a little time and effort on this one.

In case you are looking to clean up your life (and if you are reading this, I imagine you are), here are some suggestions:

 * Clean out a closet * Get rid of 10 things * Or get rid of 100 things * Fast for a day (talk with your doctor first) * Eliminate caffine, alcohol, tobacco for a day or for 10 days * Eat whole, organic foods * Take a yoga class * Visit a Reiki Master  * Get a detoxing massage * Replace your negative thoughts with an affirmation for one whole day. Try this one: I let go of what no longer serves me. * Start each day by saying what you are grateful for * Make art that is symbolic of letting go and healing * Allow yourself time to cry *

No need to be an extremest, just start with 1 of these suggestions. When we choose to get rid of what no longer serves us, then we make room for our truest passions and desires.

I was telling Mr. Angelfish earlier this week that you should write an inspirational book– that I would really love an audio book of yours. After reading this, I suppose you’re doing just that, albeit electronically. Now, if we can only get you to record these posts in your own voice….

I always enjoy reading your thoughts. I’ve never fasted, but you’ve got me curious.

Well Mr. Angelfish mentioned you at dinner tonight, so of course I had to come check out your comment. So kind. I have lots of ideas for books. We should definitely get together some time and brainstorm or just hang out.
