Inspiring Things #13: The Artist’s Way

Do you feel it is time to change your life? Are you wondering what direction to choose next? Have you always wanted to create, but believe that you are not creative? These are questions that come up for most of us at some point in our lives. They are difficult times. Often painful ones. The need to change our life usually comes after some type of loss, when we’ve experienced something painful enough that we are finally motivated to make changes. Fall seems like a good time to make some changes.

May I suggest a book that could help you with this? The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron is a wonderful guide to help you uncover the creative spirit that lives within. It is a book filled with useful tools to help find whatever creative muse is living inside. And pleased be assured, there is a creative muse living inside.

I have been reading The Artist’s Way along with my Art and Soul Class, and I am finding it difficult and inspiring all at the same time. This is how change happens. It seems that we stay the same for awhile and are content with our way of being. Then, all of a sudden we have learned something new, and our lives our different.

Like any type of recovery, The Artist’s Way may be best when shared with a group, so perhaps you will be inspired to join us.  **The Art and Soul class is meeting at KD’s Treehouse, 2711 Devine St, Columbia, Wednesdays from 4:30-6:00. It’s not to late to start. Call me today at 803.269.8730 if you would like to join us.
