Passion and Purpose: KONY 2012

The Flying Fish Blog typically isn’t used as a platform for political issues, but as one of the creators of the KONY 2012 film states: this isn’t a political issue, it’s a human isssue. Believing that the law of attraction is a powerful force where we are constantly attracting whatever we give attention to, I generally try to focus on subjects that bring more of what I want into my life.  But there are times where it is impossible to ignore the messages that appear from somewhere greater than myself. This is one of those times.

I heard about KONY 2012, and without knowing anything about this project, I knew that it was important. It took me a few days of channel surfing and Internet browsing to find out more. What I found was a beautiful film that tells a story of a horrible crime. The film is of a story that a young father tells his son about children in Uganda who have been abducted, misplaced or killed by militant leader, Joseph Kony. I have heard some judgements surrounding this project, but I’m confused by that, because the passion and purpose behind KONY 2012, is filled with love. Given the heinousness of the topic, it is surprising to me how this film and campaign is capturing the love and compassion that people really do have for one another.

The film makers would like to make Joseph Kony famous, to bring awareness to his crimes, so that he can be arrested. If you don’t know who KONY is, then take some time to check out the film below, maybe you will find passion and purpose in it too….

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.
