The Flying Fish Blog

The Flying Fish Blog, is a peek into our personal journies. It’s intended to help you identify with our trials and triumphs of life, and includes tools filled with creativity and inspiration to help you in your own journey. Each week we explore a different topic as it relates to living a life filled with creative passion and purpose. During the week you will find regular sub-categories that relate to the week’s topic including Mindfulness Monday for meditative practice; Inspiring Things for ideas about books, art, quotes and what-not; Passion and Purpose for personal stories related to the week’s topic; a Dream of the Week; and Creative Endeavors to give you ideas about things you can create in your own life.

    Mary How, MA, ATR-BC

Through my work over the past 15 years I have learned and practiced mindfulness techniques that have greatly contributed to my own growth and healing. We all go through difficult times in our lives, and during these times, we can all use some support. I began Angelfish Creations with the intention  of creating a supportive environment where you can learn how to live fully, creatively and in touch with your (soul’s) purpose.

I am an art therapist with a background using art and therapy techniques to treat survivors of trauma and people living with mental illness. As an artist I practice regular meditation by creating mandalas (circle drawings).  My training includes a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology from Columbia College and a master’s degree in Art Therapy from the Vermont College at Norwich University. My art is available for purchase at Trinity Catherdral Bookstore and KD’s TreeHouse in Columbia, SC, and Camp Kanuga in Hendersonville, NC. Believing that inner work is essential to the soul’s journey, I am passionate about bringing dream work, creativity, and theological education into the lives of others. I believe that books and good mentors open doors to spiritual growth and I feel  that my purpose is to help people understand, develop and live honoring the Spirit within themselves as well as others.
